Kadrioru Park maintains Tallinn cemeteries and Kadrioru Park with electric Addax utility vehicles

Our goal in Puhastusimport is to contribute to reducing the CO2 footprint by offering our customers environmentally friendly, innovative, and ergonomic cleaning tools. Therefore, we are very happy to announce that Kadrioru Park, the city enterprise responsible for managing and maintaining Tallinn’s cemeteries and Kadrioru Park, has introduced new electric Addax utility vehicles. Electric vehicles are better suited for the conditions of cemeteries and parks than internal combustion engine machines, as they do not pollute the air in urban area or disturb cemetery or park visitors.

Significant contribution to fulfilling Tallinn's climate goals

According to Deputy Mayor Vladimir Svet, the decision to rent electric utility vehicles was guided by the city’s environmental goals, taking into account their main usage. “The addition of five new utility vehicles to our fleet is small, but a significant contribution to fulfilling Tallinn’s climate goals – we are increasingly using electric maintenance equipment in the city. Cemeteries are places where maintenance and cleaning operations must be delicate, causing minimal disturbance to visitors, and electric maintenance vehicles are well-suited for this purpose,“ said Svet.

Environmentally friendly Addax electric tippers will be used for various maintenance tasks in cemeteries. Kadrioru Park manages Siselinna, Rahumäe, Hiiu-Rahu, Pirita, Liiva, Pärnamäe, and Metsakalmistu cemeteries. Four machines will serve the cemeteries, and one will be used in Kadrioru Park. According to Ain Järve, the director of Kadrioru Park, electric vehicles are well-suited for cemetery pathways. “Since ancient times, it has been taken into account that there must be enough space for a horse and hearse to move around in the cemetery,“ said Järve. According to Järve, cemetery workers used to transport tools and materials in the bucket of a tractor before, but now everything can be delivered more quietly.
