The new electric Addax utility vehicle is now in the product range of Puhastusimport

We want to contribute to reducing the CO2 footprint and continue to offer the industry environmentally friendly, innovative, and ergonomic cleaning tools. We are honoured to announce that the Addax, a brand new all-electric utility vehicle made in Belgium, has been added to the Puhastusimport product range, which is a step towards a greener and healthier future. Addax is the first 100% electric utility vehicle on the local market, which can be ordered with various superstructures for both special work and transporting goods.

The multifunctional and compact utility vehicle is suitable for many different jobs

‘Addax is designed to perform various tasks without pollution and noise, especially in cities and on the territories of large companies. Depending on the superstructure, the vehicles are adapted for, for example, landscaping and cleaning, waste management, package and goods transport, as well as for technicians and repair brigades,’ Alvar Valend, category manager of Puhastusimport OÜ, introduced the versatile possibilities of the new electric vehicle that arrived in Estonia. In the logistics system, this vehicle performs the so-called last mile tasks, for example delivering goods and packages to the old town or residential areas.

It is an N1 category utility vehicle over 3.6 metres long and only 1.4 metres wide, which weighs less than 3.5 tons when fully loaded. The curb weight of the vehicle is 886 kg, and the towing capacity is 565–2,000 kg, depending on the version. Thanks to its compact dimensions and small turning radius (4.5 metres), it is convenient to navigate narrow streets, factory grounds, and park roads. ‘Addax is relatively light compared to other electric vehicles and can carry a load weighing over a ton,’ explained Valend.

For city traffic, the 12-kW electric motor offers excellent acceleration. Depending on the version, the top speed of the vehicle is 55–70 km/h and the driving range is 87–132 kilometres.

Fully customisable superstructure and remotely monitored battery

‘Addax users do not need to purchase a separate charging station. A standard 16A socket can be used to charge an empty battery in 6.5 hours with a standard charger. With a fast charger, it takes almost half as much time, but there is no direct need for it. By connecting the vehicle to the mains after the end of the working day, the battery pack equipped with a heating mat will charged and ready in the morning even in the cold winter,’ Valend pointed out one of the great advantages of the Belgian electric vehicle. In addition, the manufacturer constantly monitors the health of the battery via 4G remote assistance and proactively informs the customer of possible failures. The battery has a five-year warranty and the vehicle has a two-year warranty.

Addax is also offered as a van with a 50 centimetre extended chassis, open load surfaces of two sizes, tilting load surface and container, 4–5 m3 closed cargo space, and refrigeration unit. Superstructures can be made customised in accordance with the wishes of the customer and a spreader device can be installed there. A version with a snowplow for winter is also under development.

According to Valend, the Addax electric vehicle has passed the fire resistance test of the European Union, during which it was proven that the batteries are explosion-proof in the event of a fire or collision. Therefore, the vehicle is suitable for use in flammable environments such as wood and chemical industries.

Addax Motors, a Belgian manufacturer of electric vehicles, was founded in 2016 to offer companies and local governments the opportunity to make their vehicles environmentally friendly and to be a leader in this field. Addax Motors has official dealers and service centres in 18 European countries, including Estonia and Latvia. In Latvia, Addax vehicles are sold and maintained by Profiks, a subsidiary of Puhastusimport.
