Experience story of Fazer Latvia, the largest bakery in Latvia
The team of Profiks Clean, a Puhastusimport subsidiary, visited Fazer Latvija and found out what the daily cleaning challenges of one of the largest bakeries are and how Hako scrubber-driers have helped them.
After a 40 minutes of drive we arrive in Ogre to visit Fazer Latvija. As we are approaching the entrance, we can feel the pleasant bakery aroma and the mood is great. There are people behind every big or small brand, they are the face of the company and we can definitely say that the personnel of Fazer Latvija make us feel welcome and are professionals in their trade. We reflected on our cooperation for several years while enjoying tea and snacks.
Could you tell us about Fazer Latvija?
Fazer is an international family owned company founded in Finland in 1891. Currently the company operates in eight countries and exports its production to approximately 40 countries. Business directions of “Fazer” – bread, sweets, products made on cereal and plant basis, catering services.
Fazer Bakery Baltic was founded in May 2014 by merging “Fazer” bread production businesses in the Baltic countries. The company consists of Fazer Eesti, Fazer Latvija and Fazer Lietuva. Fazer Latvija is among the biggest bakeries in Latvia. Our bakery in Ogre provides products also for the Estonian, Lithuanian and Finnish markets. Our team in the bakery and cake production comprises more than 320 employees.
How long have you been cooperating with Profiks Clean and how did your cooperation start?
Fazer Latvija started cooperating with Profiks Clean back in 2015 when we jointly found the most suitable solution for cleaning production equipment, at that time it was the Menikini steam cleaner which demonstrated the best result. Steam is still used as one of the cleaning methods for hard to reach spots. We have now expanded our cooperation with Profiks Clean and we also use Vikan tools, Hako machines, Kiehl chemicals and maintenance agents. We also intensely use the Miele professional washing machine for washing mops and cloths.
How is cleaning done at Fazer Latvija?
In the autumn of 2019 we decided to do cleaning internally by our own labour. Quality requirements are very high at our production site - all the processes in the company must conform to FSSC 22 000 standard. At present cleaning is performed by eight employees who are a part of our team. We enjoy corporate events and lunches all together. Communication is easy and understandable, as well as the personnel of the cleaning department can always ask for advice and consult with other colleagues, as we have a common goal - excellent cleanness in all the premises. The cleaning personnel take care of cleaning both production and office premises. In production premises cleaning personnel takes care of cleaning floors, walls, sanitary facilities and warehousing area, the cleaning of production equipment is done by production personnel.
What are the biggest challenges in cleaning production premises?
Our production premises house a confectionery and a bakery. Fat and oil are what we have to clean on daily basis, however, we have found a good solution to manage these challenges. Two Hako Scrubmaster B70CL scrubber-driers, as well as the Hako Scrubmaster B45CL are irreplaceable helpers and we use them on daily basis. The machines are handled exclusively by ladies and they manage this job excellently. We also receive technical support from our skilful mechanic Dmitrijs who supervises the machines to ensure that they are in a good working condition. However, when more serious repair is needed, we apply for help of Profiks Clean repair guys and all the issues are eliminated within a short time.
Why did you choose Hako scrubber-driers?
We have known Hako scrubber-driers for a long time and we appreciate their robustness and easy operation. Hako is a device serving for a long time and presenting no problems when it is regularly supervised and maintained. Availability of spare parts and high quality service was another important factor and this is provided by Profiks Clean employees. This year we decided to make easier the work of the maintenance team also in office premises and added a Hako B25 machine to our fleet of Hako machines. This is a new machine in the Hako range for smaller areas and it is very suitable for cleaning our office. Floors can be cleaned much faster and at a higher quality now. Our personnel are very satisfied. Scrubber-driers are heavy and their mechanical properties are much more powerful, therefore the result is better than cleaning with mops only.
What is your evaluation of cooperation with Profiks Clean?
Quality requirements are very high at our company, therefore it is important for us that our cooperation partners share the same values. The response speed in case of repair calls and to deliveries of products is very important for us. The range of Profiks Clean includes high quality brands and availability of products is always stable. The personnel of Profiks Clean is very responsive, they provide product demonstrations and recommend the most suitable products. Our cooperation is based on honest relationship and mutual trust. The future plans of Fazer Latvija are large in scope and ambitious, and in order to implement then we need brave and creative cooperation partners with whom we can implement this process together.
