Please, tell us more about the Latvian American eye centre

Latvian American eye center (LAAC) is the first private eye clinic in the Baltic countries created based on a unique USA model. In 1993 Latvian American Eye Centre was founded by the Professor John Joseph McDermott (1932-2013) from California, USA. The operational mode of the Eye Centre is based on the principles of the patient care and technologies developed in the USA LAAC has developed into a stable, widely known, high level medical establishment which provides its services to not only residents of Latvia, but also patients from abroad.

How is daily cleaning performed in the Latvian American eye centre?

We use outsourced service for daily cleaning. Cleaning is performed by using prepared mops and we wash mops on site. As clients with visibility impairment visit our centre, it is very important that floors are dry after cleaning.  As time passed by, we understood that although good mops were used for cleaning floors, the flow of people was intense and additional mechanical tools were needed to scrub floors.

How did you learn about the Excentr floor maintenance machine?

I almost have to admit that we learned about Excentr by chance. We were at Profiks Clean for the presentation of Kiehl detergents and started speaking about floor maintenance machines. We described what we wanted to clean, what kind of floor coverings we have and agreed on a demonstration of cleaning machines at our facilities in the Latvian American eye centre. The representatives from Profiks Clean brought 2 machines for testing, of which one was intended for daily cleaning and the other for more intensive cleaning.

How did you choose the cleaning machine?

The specifics of our facilities are quite varied - there are both corridors, as well as small rooms, staircases, therefore we were looking for a small and compact device for daily cleaning, so that it would be convenient to work and it was possible to access areas under tables.  We selected a WIRBEL ROLLY NRG 11 scrubber-drier, whose biggest advantage is that it collects water moving both forward and backward. No complicated movements need to be performed for collecting moisture. However, the other Excentr device surprised us - the difference before and after cleaning was clearly visible. It was like it is shown in advertisements, and this seems unbelievable, however, now we saw by ourselves that miracles are possible with Excentr.

What can you say about the Excentr device after you have used it for several months?

Our appreciation has not got smaller, and we feel really enthusiastic about it. We are glad we picked the wired Excentr version because it is difficult to stop after you start working and see the result. You will want to continue more and more. Sometimes we get carried away and work for continuous 4 hours instead of scheduled 2 hours. Now we have covered most of premises and we are glad for what we have achieved.

When do you do cleaning?

Both machines are sufficiently quiet and they can also be used when we have visitors. There is no disturbance whatsoever. Of course, we comply with safety rules and only used the wired Excentr in the rooms where there are no visitors. We have a strict procedure in this regard. As the Excentr machine does not have the water collection function, we have found a way to combine both machines. Usually the job is performed by two persons. One is scrubbing the floors by using the Excentr machine and the other is collecting dirty water from the floor by using the WIRBEL ROLLY. In this way we get the job done fast.

What are the major advantages of Excentr machine in your opinion?

I have been using a single disc machine before. If we want to compare them, the Excentr machine is much easier to manoeuvre and no special skills are required to work with the Excentr. Anybody can handle it. The very operation principle is unique - the eccentric movement of the machine resulting in this wonderful result. If the single disc machine is compared to the Excentr, it is good that the shape of the Excentr is rectangular. Therefore it is much easier to access corners. When the single disc machines were used, it was necessary to take the abrasive pad and to manually scrub corners.

What abrasives do you use for the Excentr machine?

We mainly use the pink abrasives intended for all floors. In addition, we have also bought white/ black microfiber for specific floor coverings.

Would you recommend the Excentr machine to other users and for what kind of companies would this machine be suitable?

Our experience is very successful and we are glad for this discovery. It is simple, anybody can use it and the result is great, therefore I think that it can be used for cleaning any premises - it will work for cleaning both schools, offices, manufacturing premises and supermarkets.
