Hygenic and easy to use Longopac waste collection solution in senior residence ‘’Madliena’’

It was a nice morning in May when we went to visit the senior residence “Madliena” located in Madliena parish, Ogre district. We have been cooperating with the senior residence “Madliena” for quite long, there it was interesting to learn about the personnel’s references about Profiks Clean products. We were kindly welcomed by the Director of the residence Inese Rudzgaile who gladly shared her experiences.  

How old is your residence?

The senior residence “Madliena” is a social care institution for seniors and persons with disabilities, and it started operating on 29 March 1995. There are places for 80 persons in the residence and we employ 40 people. The residence provides social care and social rehabilitation services to persons of the retirement age and persons with disabilities of categories I and II.

What is important for your staff in performing their daily duties?

Our work is not easy, therefore it is of utmost importance that the tools we use daily for taking care of our clients and for cleaning premises are convenient and of high quality. Using high quality tools provides more time for our personnel to take care of our clients. 

How did you learn about Longopac waste collection system?

The representative of Profiks Clean Līga was in Madliena and came to us to present many interesting products and also gave a Longopac waste bin to us for testing.  We liked the bin straight away and the personnel immediately understood the idea and advantages. We were using standard 120 l black bags before. Due to lack of time, personnel overloaded them and it was very difficult to carry them on stairs. Sometimes bags broke due to heavy loads. By using Longopac bags, our personnel do not have to carry heavy bags any longer, because it is possible to remove the immediate volume of collected waste. We have not had a single broken bag since we are using Longopac bags. In the beginning we did not believe that a thinner bag can be more robust, however, it is exactly as Līga told us - these are high quality bags and made to be strong.

How is your daily process of care for clients organised?

We have single, double and triple rooms. A nurse with a caregiver goes on a daily round by carrying a care trolley and a Longopac Maxi bin. The Longopac bin on wheels is very convenient. This allows to go to each room, to do necessary activities there and  to put diapers, napkins and everything else, as needed, straight to a bag and to close it immediately. By applying a cable tie, we close a bag and all the smells - it works like closing a lid, we just do it by using a cable tie. Bed linen and care materials are placed on a trolley. 

How many Longopac bins do you have and how long does a single bag last?

There are 3 floors in our residence and we bought a bin for each floor. In our case it is easier to use a Longopac Maxi bin because we have a lot of waste. A single maxi bag lasts for one and a half to two months for us. We install a bag once and do not have to think about bags any more, as they all are located on a stand. We collect waste, close it with a cable tie, cut and remove.

What was your first experience of using cable ties? Wasn't it difficult to get used to them?

Our personnel coming from a rural area is familiar with cable ties. We have been using them before, therefore it was not difficult at all.

What do you see as the biggest advantages of the Longopac system?

It is convenient, a bin looks aesthetic visually and the bag is very robust. Our personnel like working with this system and we definitely recommend it to others. There is another product that we did not use before and that was a new discovery for us - a squeegee or a rubber blade. It is an excellent tool for collecting hair, sand and other dirt, we also use it in winter, when it is more wet or any liquid gets splashed. We are happy for cooperation and new cleaning tools making our daily work easier.
