The Hako Citymaster outdoor cleaning machine cleans up the streets of Paide

Paide Haldus Foundation has been maintaining the streets and roads in Paide for more than 12 years. After the last administrative reform – when Paide and Roosna-Alliku rural municipalities were merged with the city of Paide – the workload of maintenance workers increased significantly as and hundreds of kilometres of roads and streets have to be maintained. Paide Haldus maintains the green areas, buildings, and cemeteries of the city, as well as organises the daily work of about 60 people. ‘Upgrading the machine fleet and using modern machines is essential, because it allows us to get the job done faster and better,’ Peeter Saldre, member of the board of Paide Haldus, is convinced.

Everyday challenges in urban maintenance

‘As part of a new procurement, we maintain the pavements and roads in the centre of Paide to schools and kindergartens. We must be finished by seven o’clock in the morning. That is why we have very high expectations for the technology we used,’ Peeter Saldre described his daily work and challenges. ‘Although we have used the Hako Citymaster for just a few weeks, the first impressions are very good. The machine is small, but really efficient,’ continues Saldre. According to Peeter Saldre, the Citymaster can also handle massive piles of leaves and is a capable and useful machine in every way.

‘We chose a young man to drive the new machine because he knows a lot about technology had has the skills to use the high-quality and smart machine in the best way. Puhastusimport trained him thoroughly and we are doing everything to motivate and keep the young man,’ said Saldre. ‘There are many roads that need maintaining in Paide. We are currently finding out where else the Citymaster could be used.’

Cooperation leads to the best solutions

‘We have been in active contact with Puhastusimport regarding outdoor maintenance machines for over two years, but have been using their cleaning accessories and cleaning agents for years. Our supplier is the local company Vaaros, which is a distributor of Puhastusimport. Vaaros gets us everything we need quickly and, if necessary, also provide us with recommendations and specialist advice,’ Peeter Saldre described the cooperation.

‘Cooperation with Puhastusimport has been very positive, because Siim Kuus, the salesperson of Puhastusimport, has been on site to introduce us to various maintenance equipment, and our men have also been able to try out the equipment themselves. Siim always lets us know when he is passing us by with a new machine so that he could visit us. After all, all roads meet in Paide. The city of Paide is large and since we are constantly replacing existing equipment, we need to be aware of new machines on the market. When I met Siim in the first half of this year and visited the Maamess fair to check out the machines, I mentioned we needed something new for pavement maintenance. The Citymaster seemed like an interesting machine and now, it is cleaning our streets and gutters from leaves. It has proven to be a very useful machine! Suction ducts have already been installed on our Citymaster, and a snow plow, as well as a sandbox for spare sand and a sand spreader, will be installed for the winter. Luckily, we can borrow extras for the Citymaster from Puhastusimport. We have realised that it is important to use high-quality technology, even if it is more expensive,’ Peeter Saldre summarised the topics of outdoor maintenance.

Maintenance of green areas and leaf removal

‘Last year, we added a Ferris 2200 zero turn mower and a Billy Goat leaf blower to our machine fleet, because maintenance of green areas is a large part of our work. Since the areas that need mowing are large, the suspension system on the Ferris 2200 has proven to be a favourite among our workers. The blower is also a great help in leaf removal, because the time saved is in hours,’ Saldre described the maintenance of green areas.
