Removing stubborn stains – best tips and cleaning products

Have you ever had to deal with coffee or wine stains on a carpet, dried chewing gum stuck on a sofa or waterproof marker traces on a table? The removal of stubborn stains is often an annoying and complicated task, but with the use the right cleaning tools, you can resolve these hopeless situations with ease. Here are the best tips and cleaning products for easy and efficient removal of even the most stubborn stains.

How to remove stubborn stains successfully?

  • Make sure what kind of stain and from what type of material you need to remove and choose the correct cleaning product, tool or device accordingly.
  • Remove stains as soon as you can – the sooner you start cleaning, the easier it is to remove the stain.
  • Remove loose dirt first, otherwise it may cause more soiling as you clean.
  • Avoid rubbing the stain even bigger. Instead, prefer dabbing. In case of larger stains, start removing the stain from the edges and move towards the centre.
  • If you use a cleaning agent, make sure to rinse the surface with clean water when you finish.
  • First, test the cleaning agent on the surface in an inconspicuous spot to avoid ruining the entire surface by accident.

In case of bigger stains, a textile cleaning machine or a steam cleaner will be of great help.

Ecofriendly alternatives to strong chemicals:

  • Melamine rubber – if you need to remove small stains from, for example, painted walls or chair legs, you can try a melamine rubber and clean water before using a chemical. Moisten the rubber, rub the stain gently and wipe with a cleaning cloth. Be careful, because rubbing too aggressively may damage the surface!
