INSTA 800 – needs-based and cost-effective cleaning

On May 25, Hotel Euroopa hosted the Puhastusekspert seminar, which focused on needs-based and cost-effective cleaning (INSTA 800). INSTA 800 (EVS 914) is a standard for cleaning work, within the framework of which the quality of cleaning work and the bases for evaluation have been agreed. INSTA is used in many Estonian companies as well, which makes it easy to create a common understanding of cleanliness. Tõnis Ilves, Product Manager of Puhastusimport, was one of the speakers talking about innovative and cost-effective cleaning products at the seminar.

In addition, the development of science and technology provides many innovations in the field of cleaning supplies and cleaning and utility machines, making cleaning work more efficient and easy. It is clear that working with a machine or using the right cleaning agent and accessories will help ensure a cleaner end result and meet INSTA 800 standards. At the seminar, Tõnis Ilves introduced several interoperable and innovative solutions. „It is important to find the most suitable solutions for each object, which, by working together, will reduce the amount of cleaning work and are more cost-effective. For example, if the streets are clean and there are proper doormats at the door, less dirt will reach the interior floors, less dust will be generated on the surfaces, and less time will thus be spent on cleaning,“ said Tõnis, sharing some tips.

For example, Tõnis introduced Unger’s chemical-free or clean water glass washing system, told that plastic bottles are used to make microfiber cloths, and said that the housings of the Sprintus vacuum cleaner are made of recycled plastic. The Hako B3 floor washing machine is compact and offers an efficient alternative to using a mop, and the short washing programs of Miele mop washing machines save a significant amount of time in preparing cleaning products. Moreover, mops and microfiber cloths come out of the machine wet, letting work begin immediately. Since the professional machine has drainage directly into the sewer, it helps to avoid troublesome blockages. However, the Finnish Sappax mop is much more than just a mop arm with a base – the unique solution gives one tool no less than three different functions – sweeping, washing, and drying the floor.

„When it comes to Puhastusimport, we consider it very important that all product development news is tried and tested together by ourselves and our customers, as this way we can recommend the most efficient and effective solutions for solving very different problems. Time is valuable and the goal of cleaning is to always ensure general cleanliness,“ said Tõnis.

"The Nordic standard INSTA 800 was developed in Denmark in 2000 and is used in a total of 7 countries. The INSTA 800 standard describes the definition and control system for the achieved quality of cleanliness. INSTA 800 can be used in all types of buildings and areas, such as administrative buildings, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, supermarkets, shops, production halls, and trains, regardless of cleaning methods, -frequencies, or -principles. The standard is focused on the result of the cleaning service, not the process,“ said Puhastusekspert’s Siret Raid of the INSTA 800 standard.

The standard defines the groups of cleaning facilities and their evaluation, specifies the groups of dirt, the cleaning control strategy, and the quality levels and compliance criteria of surfaces and objects. The standard has six quality levels (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that assess the achieved cleanliness.
